Hey eveyone. . my name is Steve aka got_vdub also on vortex. I am here visiting my parents for the 1st time and I would really love to get to a GTG or event while I am here to see some RHD VW's and see what you guys are doing for the Asia VW scene. I live near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA and work for a VW / Audi / Porsche Dealership. MY parents livein Chancery Grove near Novena. Is there anything going on in the next 2 weeks?? If someone could also tell me a few hot spots for NYE that would be great too.
Here is a pic of my Golf TDI

hi.. welcome to the boards.
there definitely should be something going down in the next couple of weeks. just check the GTG section and sign up!
Hi Steve *wave* and welcome to VAGSG. Some of the usual suspects that organise GTGs are away on hols but I think there should be some here that will organise a GTG (BG, JD, Marc ...).
Let's see what happens ...
Hi Steve,
Welcome to the forums. Given the packed holiday schedule etc...just lets us know how long you will be in Singapore and we could always arrange a quick GTG to meet up.
Cheers

Welcome to Singapore & Vagsg, Steve!
Singapore is another hotspot to spend New Year’s Eve 2006-2007. Whether it is Mardi Gras at Clark Quay or Express Place, Singapore’s New Year’s Eve celebration includes the best dining, wines and entertainments. The city’s Times Square at Suntec City will have hundreds of travelers gathered to watch laser lighting. The Marina Bay New Year's Eve Countdown along the Esplanade will have large crowds watching Singapore’s favorite fireworks display. The Sky Symphony Countdown Party at the Jewel Box on Mount Faber will display the city’s longest fireworks at 20 minutes. The Siloso Splash at Siloso Beach on Sentosa Island, Singapore's largest tourist place receives 15,000 people every year for a beach party that lasts till 6 am.

You a Eagles fan?
Yes, actually since I'm still getting used to the time change I was up at 6 am this morning to watch them spank the Cowboys. . Hello to everyone who responded. I will be around until Saturday the 6th. SO far i have only seen a handfull of VW's but for me the most exciting is the Caddy truck. We haven't had those in the states since the early 80's. Not a big Honda/ DSM fan at all but its def cool seeing everything in right hand drive.
I will keep my eye on here for stuff going down. Hopefully there will be a MRT station near some of the GTGs. Later

No problem with that. . I am actually quite suprised at how nicely done some of the cars are. Where i come from its all about mismatched body kits, bad exhaust notes, and stickers and hideous tail lights. I have seen 2 real nice Evo 9's and suprisingly the Jazz/Fit doesnt look to bad. . . for a honda that is. . . As for GTI's i saw 1 so far a few Bora's and a few Caddys :D As far an eingines most of them i see are 1.6 right and most of the a4's i see are 2.0. DO you guys have 1.8t's and 2.8 or 3.2 Vr's???
As for College FB, Im a Penn State Fan :)
Thanks for all the feedback guys. Oh and for NYE I think IM going down to the Marina, there seem to be a few CLubs down there with a good view of the fireworks. Is there anyone who knows where they will be going??

There are quite a good range of VAG cars around on the small island.
Besides the Evo MR and 9, lots of jazz/fit, we also do have heaps of GTIs running around. Bora are rare nowadays. Most of them have been exported or scraped. Due to our tax structure over here in Spore, it is more reasonable to get a smaller engine. Our running area is small as well and therefore most of the car buyers will go for either 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 and 2.4. Only the rich and famous will get 3.0 and above.

pls refer to this link:http://www.vagsg.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2202

BG,
Dredd Shot me a PM. Here is my delima. I got my girlfriend a plane ticket over here as her X-mas present and she comes that morning at I think 6am. FOod is no issue for me. I have been trying everything under the sun over here. If I can get us back here by 7 so Dredd can pick us up that would be no issue, I know she wants to make the most of it too so she should be game right over the plane. I just dont want to take advantage of Dredd's hopitatlity. How far are we talking from Novena 1/2 hour. . hour?? Let me know. She should be waking up in the next few hours so I will try to get an answer soon. Hopefully we can make this work :D

then you can pop over to Attica round the corner for DJ Dimitri from Paris.
NYE, Danny Tenaglia @ Zouk. probably a 10-12 hour set. they will serve breakfast in the Zouk deli. expect the tag line to be Closing Time "when the party is over" likely 9-10am!!! last year was the same thing.

got_vdub, chew's rite... pick her up at the airport and join us at Changi Village? jus tell the cab driver "car park opp Changi Village Hotel"... it's only abt 5-10mins away...
regarding your timing... if the plane lands at 6am, there may be a chance that you can reach home by 7am for JD to pick u up.. he's a great guy! dun worry abt taking advantage since he offered... he's a good guy... drives a Volvo S40T5... only thing is he drives fast.... and i mean really fast....
do let us know how things go! cheers!
well, the way i see it you have 2 options
1, persuade her to come to breakfast. which will be quite fun and nice for her cos tourists dont really get to changi village.
2. go home, persuade her to rest. ill pick u up from home and take u to brekkie.
or 3. she doesnt let u go for breakfast, or want to go to breakfast either, in which case u will be SOL.
no worries tho, we can reschedule another.

If her plane is late Me, my dad, and her will probably just come straight there and we can all enjoy breakfast together, once again IF she is up for it. Hopefully i will see you guys tomorrow AM. Finally the sun is out so im off to the pool. Later
